Hey folks,

Sorry I forgot to post last night...what a crazy first day back! I was so happy to see all of you.
The math facts this week are the 8x table. Good luck! Have them ready for Friday!

We started reading Holes by Louis Sachar today. The book, which is still his best-known work, was published in 1998. What two awards did the book win, one in 1998 and one in 1999? What year did he release Small Steps, which features some of the characters from Holes?

Good luck, and welcome back!

Now, the trivia.
Unfortunately, we will all be tracked off during April Fool's Day on April 1st. So...that means no putting soap in Mr. Cuoco's coffee, or tacks on his chair. But where did this foolish holiday originate? There are many different ideas of it's orientation in different countries.
1. What is one of the first written examples of April foolishness, written in 1392? (That's a tough question!)
2. What is the name for the Roman festival held on March 25th every year, where the holiday may have come from?

Good luck! Answers in tomorrow!

Trivia:
March means St. Patrick's Day! This holiday is celebrated for the St. Patrick, the patron Saint of Ireland. Outside of Ireland, it's generally just a celebration for the island itself. To celebrate, people do what all Irish people do...look for leprechauns, four leaf clovers, pots of gold, and, I don't...eat potatoes.

Unfortunately, Ireland was not always such a wonderful place. There was a time when one particular vegetable killed almost a million people!
A. What crop was associated with the mass starvation and emigration of Ireland?
B. What years are most associated with this excursion from the island?
C. (Unrelated to the previous questions) What is the date of St. Patrick's Day?

Get your answers in tomorrow!

The trivia for TONIGHT is the following:

This will be our last post during Black History Month, so let's make it about another famous African American.
There are a lot of famous African American athletes. But arguably one was the most dramatic of them all. He said some pretty inspirational quotes, such as "I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quite. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion." He also was perhaps a bit...let's call it confident...when he said "If you even dream of beating me you better wake up and apologize," and "I'm so fast that last night I turned off the light switch in my hotel room and was in bed before the room was dark."
Question 1: Who was the athlete that said these quotes?
Question 2: What was the athlete's original name?
Question 3: What city did he win Olympic gold in?

Good luck!
