Hey folks,
Just a quick reminder that this week's Monday Math Facts are the same as last week because we were only in school for two days...so find that 8x table on the blog and keep working on them for Friday!
Now to the trivia:
Let's talk money. There have been a lot of really rich people throughout history. As we've talked about in class, there was a time (before the early 1900s) when there were no laws against monopolies. That means anyone could own every company that supplied a certain product. This was bad for business because those individuals could raise prices and cause a lot of economic problems for a lot of people. But before this time, some men were able to accumulate an unimaginable amount of wealth.
1. Who is regularly regarded as the richest American in US history? (Your hint is that this is in ADJUSTED dollar amounts to the current US dollar)
2. What was his entire fortune estimated to be worth in current US dollars?
3. A bit easier: Who is the CURRENT richest man in the United States?
Good luck! Get your answers turned in tomorrow for tickets!

Monday Math Facts (and some Tuesday Trivia)
Hey everyone!
Sorry to just be posting now...I had to go take PETEY for a long run!
First...we're working on the 8x table this week. You have until NEXT Friday to study, so expect to be giving away a lot of tickets.
8x1 = 8
8x2 = 16
8x3 = 24
8x4 = 32
8x5 = 40
8x6 = 48
8x7 = 56 (favorite!)
8x8 = 64
8x9 = 72
8x10 = 80
8x11 = 88
8x12 = 96
Then, as promised...some Tuesday Trivia. Get your answers in TOMORROW!
Thanksgiving is this Thursday, so how about some turkey-day history? 1. Where is it believed that the first Thanksgiving feast took place in the United States? 2. What year is it rumored to have taken place? (There is a lot of different ideas about the holiday, so research carefully!) BONUS QUESTION: After Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday, what other November holiday ceased to be recognized by almost every US state?
Good luck!

Tuesday Trivia 11/13/12
Hey folks!
Time for another addition of Tuesday Trivia! First, a few reminders: the canned food drive ends on Thursday, so make sure you get your donations in! Also, ANR is taking plastic grocery bags for donation to win an Albertson's gift card! And finally...make sure you study your 7s table this week so you can win more tickets!
This week's question: In social studies class, we've been learning about the native peoples of Colorado. Many of these people encountered very few Europeans until after the American Colonies won their freedom from the British and started moving westward. Obviously, there were many other natives living on the east coast of North America before the colonies were established, too. One of the first settlements established was on an island in North Carolina, which was near a group of what were considered peaceful native Americans. However...that colony, and all it's residents, eventually disappeared and were never heard from again!
1. What was the name of the European settlement in North Carolina that suddenly disappeared without a trace?
2. What was the word carved into a tree that was the single clue left for the settlers that returned to the colony after traveling back to Europe?
This is a hard one! Good luck!

Tuesday Trivia...you choose!
Hey folks,
On my drive home, here's what I decided...let's see if you can stump Mr. Cuoco this week! Here's what you're going to do...
1. Research a topic or event from US history. Find out the date of the event.
2. If it's in the 1900s, Mr. Cuoco has to guess the EXACT year of the event.
3. If it happened prior to the 1900s, Mr. Cuoco has to get within five years of the event.
If you stump Mr. Cuoco, you'll earn your tickets! Good luck!

THURSDAY trivia
Hey folks,
Sorry for the late post! I just got back from a volleyball game!
First, some very exciting news: since starting the blog on August 21st, we've cracked 1,000 page views! WOW! Officially at 1,050 as of tonight...
Now, to the trivia.
Last night was Halloween! I'm sure all of you kids got a lot of candy! But can you figure out...what is the world's largest candy company? You can find it on google! Bonus: How many factories does that company have world-wide?
Good luck! See you tomorrow!
