Tuesday Trivia 11/27

Hey folks,

Just a quick reminder that this week's Monday Math Facts are the same as last week because we were only in school for two days...so find that 8x table on the blog and keep working on them for Friday!

Now to the trivia:

Let's talk money. There have been a lot of really rich people throughout history. As we've talked about in class, there was a time (before the early 1900s) when there were no laws against monopolies. That means anyone could own every company that supplied a certain product. This was bad for business because those individuals could raise prices and cause a lot of economic problems for a lot of people. But before this time, some men were able to accumulate an unimaginable amount of wealth.

1. Who is regularly regarded as the richest American in US history? (Your hint is that this is in ADJUSTED dollar amounts to the current US dollar)
2. What was his entire fortune estimated to be worth in current US dollars?
3. A bit easier: Who is the CURRENT richest man in the United States?

Good luck! Get your answers turned in tomorrow for tickets!

Mr. C (and Petey)
